Sucreabeille - Cup of Ambition

good morning! here's an early cuppa of Cup of Ambition (sticky marshmallow, three kinds of coffee, no limits) from Sucreabeille, to bring you some joy as you start your day (and week) ahead!

true to the listed notes, lifting the cap off the bottle releases a really sweet and yummy scent that wakes you up like a good cup o' joe. it smells like you're holding a coffee cup overflowing with fluffy marshmallows, then poured a drizzle of a rich mocha over it. as the warm steam curls up lazily, you bring the cup to your nose and inhale deeply of its rich goodness.

on application, the coffee and marshmallow trade places - the coffee moves to take centre stage, featuring the bitter edge of a very strong coffee though tempered by something more creamy and mocha-ey. the coffee note gets more realistic as it morphs over time and separates from the marshmallow, something i'm sure coffee lovers will enjoy very much. it doesn't become too bitter, staying nicely in the region of wearable gourmand between 'roasted cocoa beans' and 'creamy hot chocolate / mocha'. personally, while i can appreciate the complexity of the coffee as it morphs, i just have a leaning towards the sweeter side of things and prefer the more marshmallowy state in the bottle.

the scent has a low to medium throw for me and quite a disparate longevity between wearing on my skin as compared to wearing it in my hair. When i first applied this to my wrist, i could get whiffs of it from about a foot away but it gradually became more personal over time (i had applied this around mid-morning but could barely smell coffee by lunchtime, which seemed appropriate). in contrast, when i applied some to the ends of my hair on another occasion, it still morphed a bit but i got considerably less of the strong and bitter coffee notes. and the longevity, wow. it lasted throughout the day, more than fourteen hours, and i chuckled to myself when it was suppertime and my husband sniffed the air in confusion, asking me, "why... do i smell marshmallow mocha?"

i love this scent as an awesome way to start my morning. apart from being an awesome coffee scent, this one is also inspired by Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" which never fails to bring a smile to my face as i join the crowds streaming into the city during the morning rush hour. i just feel that this scent is so aptly named; it's really a cup of ambition, a reminder that we work to make more than a living; i'm not just another tired face in the crowd or a cog in the machine. i'm awake, i'm alive, i'm being who i want to be, and reaching for the stars every single day. my 10ml should last me for a bit, though i'm quite sure i'll get a replacement when it's finished. 8.5/10.
