Sixteen92 - Summer 2020 Backups Haul

after trying the Sixteen92 Summer 2020 collection samples that arrived as part of my Circle membership subscription (first impressions review here), i knew i wanted to full-size my two favourites, Good Morning, Bayside High and Sick, Sad World.

Good Morning, Bayside High (sun-baked cement, rows of metal lockers, sprinklers on dry grass, towering palms, beach sand, shaved ice) is a lovely fresh green atmospheric that starts out like newly-watered grass first thing in the morning, and becomes refreshingly sweet and cool over the course of its wear. it's an absolutely perfect fragrance to be wearing in the hot and humid summers that we have here in Singapore almost all year round, so it wasn't really a difficult decision to pick up a full-size of this to enjoy.

and there was no way i wasn't going to get a full-size of my favourite of the collection - Sick, Sad World (dry breakfast cereal, steamed milk, used bookstore, crisp newspaper, wool jacket, knee-high black boots). all the notes come together nicely to create something fun and comforting, and after having worn this multiple times while waiting for my order to arrive, i'm even more firm in my belief that this is the scent that would be worn by Tony the Tiger's hypothetical super cool older brother – in my imagination, he shares the same love of frosted flakes but instead of a red bandanna he’s got slick shades, a black leather motorcycle jacket and matching boots. so. awesome.

Bad Reputation (rolling paper, can●●●is, cherry cola, worn leather jacket, torn magazine pages) was brought back as part of the Spring/Summer Greatest Hits, and was a blind-buy full-size on my part because the notes piqued my curiosity and i've been looking for a niche punk girl scent for a while. i haven't had the opportunity to test this one yet because it literally just came in yesterday (international shipping is really really variable during this period) but am looking forward to it.

overall, Sixteen92's website is very well-organised and easy to browse; there's also an additional "feel-good" factor getting exclusive pre-release access to the collection online and a discount on orders as a Circle subscriber.

shipping was calculated separately at the prevailing rates for international orders, though they do offer free domestic (US) shipping for orders over US$100. and the turnaround time from when i placed my order to receiving the shipping notification was 17 business days, which was within their stated 25 business day estimate.

everything arrived in about a decent condition, considering that it had taken a journey that lasted more than two months. the bottles had a layer of bubble wrap and a little lifejacket of corrugated cardboard that was then placed in a bubble mailer; it was sufficient protection for them from the rough and tumble of travel, but unfortunately all of them had suffered some leakage on the way. thankfully the labels were of a good enough quality to not have been affected by the oils, and i guess one plus side was that the postal workers along the route probably also had the opportunity to catch a whiff of these lovely scents.

this review is of scents that i had purchased at regular price with my own money. i wasn’t asked to review these scents as a condition of receipt and didn’t receive any incentives for writing this. i’m not affiliated with Sixteen92 and as always, all opinions remain my own.

the Sixteen92 Summer 2020 collection and the Spring/Summer Greatest Hits will be coming down soon - check them out here before they leave. prices are US$5 for a 2ml sample, US$14 for a 6ml bottle and US$22 for a 10ml roll-on (before shipping).
