Sucreabeille - Halloween Collection

i received these lovely 10ml oil rollerballs as part of Sucreabeille's gifts with purchase when i made an order to stock up on a good haul of scents sometime back, when they held a promotion for friday the 13th last year.

without question, these bottles feature some of the most awesome label art in my collection and i needed a photo to do them justice.

here's a list of the scent notes (from left to right):

  • Azrael (An ancient, ethereal library lit by gaslight and glowing incense, frankincense and bay laurel, the simple cotton winding sheet of the dearly departed, swirls of vanilla and coal dust).
  • Banshee (Burnt sugar; baby powder; nag champa; real ylang ylang; a perfect sunflower; palmarosa; fresh figs; a moonlit night; decadent pomegranate; metallic copper; white musk).
  • Cthulhu (Crisp sea salt; tobacco leaf; burnt sugar; freshly poured pavement; carrot seed. (This is a challenging blend, with a few sour/unpleasant notes at first that dissipate to a strange, delightful blend of sweet and salty with a touch of rot. Not for the faint of heart!)).
  • Hobgoblin (Oud wood, pipe tobacco, real vanilla, sandalwood, freshly cracked black pepper, finely grated ginger root.).
  • The Kraken (Murky deep ocean water, fresh sea moss, rich amber, metal).

scent-wise, every single perfume in this collection has a distinctly unique profile that matches its otherworldly inspiration. Azrael really evokes the imagery of a haunted library while Banshee is alluringly sweet. i think i'm not lionhearted enough for Cthulhu which pushes the limits on wearable scents, though the smokiness of Hobgoblin and metallic aquatics in The Kraken are interesting scent experiences in their own right.

since then, Sucreabeille has expanded the collection further with Homunculus (A bubbling concoction of thick, resinous elimi brewed in a cauldron in the stone cellars of an old, forgotten manor house. Candles light the walls and have dripped for hundreds of years. Cardamom and sweet oud, and an unexpected touch of bright sassafras) which i have yet to try, though i can already imagine how unique it would smell just judging by the rest of the company that it keeps.
