i've been exploring home fragrances a little bit more, with some degree of work-from-home becoming the new normal (at least for the time being) for us here in Singapore. while perfume is a lovely way to enjoy smells whether indoors or outdoors, it still feels tied to me personally and i love how wax melts can scent an entire room even as i wander around the rest of the house.
with christmas right around the corner, i decided to try a wax advent calendar this season and ordered this one (among other wax products) from UK-based indie creator Heaven Scent Wax Melts.
being a relatively new brand on the scene, they don't seem to have a dedicated website and instead handle all showcase and sale of products through their Instagram account. it's manageable to browse, though definitely not as convenient as a dedicated website. in my experience though, it wasn’t easy to work out my order initially because there is no master scent list (notes are only set out in the individual showcase of each product post on their Instagram) and it would also have been good if their pricelist had included a rough indication of the weight among the different sizes available, rather than leaving it as "small", "medium" and "large".
i was glad that they offer both local (UK) and international shipping at prevailing rates. it was a pleasure to discuss my order details with the owner Lauren who was so bubbly and sweet throughout, as i wanted to ensure that my purchases were within the weight limit for a particular cost tier of shipping.
their turnaround time was around a week from confirmation of order to dispatch at the post office, which i found quite reasonable given that some of the products that i wanted were not in stock and needed to be made to order.
apart from their advent calendar (which was priced at £16 for twenty-four wax melts and a medium-sized snap bar), i also ordered four snap bars in their scents Amber Lavender, Blueberry Muffin, Festive Fir, and Snow Champagne. i had also requested to buy either a small or medium Snowflake Sparkle to be included if within the weight limit, and Lauren was very kind to offer to pop it in for me for free if the post office didn't have any issues with the weight on the final package. (unfortunately, as it turns out, it seems that a little Snow Fairy had appeared instead, though i'm not one to complain about freebies.)
everything arrived in a decent condition (if i had to be nitpicky the calendar was a little dented but so was the outer shipping box; i don't think it was avoidable given how far my package had to travel to get here).
i love the colours and the wax melts seem promising, with a decent throw out of the box. plus, i like the neat handwriting of each scent name on the advent calendar bags as well as the snap bars, something that makes my order feel personal and meaningful the way indies just enhance that purchasing experience.
i'll be uploading some advent calendar opening shenanigans over on my Instagram @sniffsandscribbles, do check it out if you're interested!
