we interrupt your regularly-scheduled ocean week program to bring you this message for world gin day.
now, gin is a completely different animal from whisk(e)y when it comes to aroma and flavour, but i'm always open to trying new experiences.
on the recommendation of a friend, i recently purchased my first ever bottle of gin: this bottle of Suntory Roku Gin (43% abv).
i'd be lying if i said the gorgeous bottle didn't contribute to my decision - with its ornate design, this is hands-down one of the prettiest in my collection.
its name 'roku' is Japanese for the number six, reflecting the six Japanese botanicals that go into this craft gin.
each face of this gorgeous hexagonal bottle is engraved with a botanical ingredient and its Japanese name: sakura flower, sakura leaf, yuzu peel, sencha (green tea), gyukuro tea (refined green tea) and sanshō pepper.
i haven't yet had the opportunity to try this properly (pending a shopping trip to get tonic water and ginger slices) but am already so enamoured with the pretty bottle that it now occupies one of the centre display positions on my shelf.

this review is of a product that i had purchased at regular price with my own money. i wasn’t asked to review this scent as a condition of receipt and didn’t receive any incentives for writing this. i’m not affiliated with Suntory and as always, all opinions remain my own.
all information correct at time of publishing.
