Fantôme – Ectoplasm

{undercover review of own purchase}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky.

sometimes we may find ourselves experiencing something that defies scientific logic or natural law, an unexplainable event that points us towards things unseen and beyond our comprehension.

inspired by the manifestation of the supernatural on the mortal plane, «Ectoplasm» from Fantôme's «Spiritualism Collection» simultaneously summons the marshmallow ghosts of halloween past, present and future, while bringing the living into the realm of the ethereal.

i wasn't a fan of this when it first arrived in the mail, but after more than a year of resting, i'm so glad i blind-bought a full-size, because every single drop of this stunning scent is a mystical experience in itself.

«Ectoplasm» opens with a mouth-wateringly realistic toasted marshmallow that's innocently sweet and alluringly delectable at the same time.

over the course of its wear, the scent transcends its mortal marshmallow body to reveal a surprisingly sophisticated muskiness that wouldn't be out of place for a gentlewoman in 19th-century America.

the warm amber and resinous myrrh provide a subtle contrasting complexity, with a faint hint of nature anchoring its otherworldly character to this world.

«Ectoplasm» is both a delightfully delicious dessert and an elegantly refined aura, a beautiful perfume that brings a touch of ghostly comfort and subtle mysticism to my everyday reality.

📝 official notes: "spooky, goopy marshmallow over bone-chilling white musk, sweet amber, a gossamer sugar glaze, dark myrrh, and creeping greenery."
