Pulp Fragrance – Bewitching Amber

{undercover review of own purchase}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky. the next few days are going to be wonderfully witchy, with a lineup of my favourite sorcerous scents!
if there's a scent that successfully cast a spell on me from first sniff, it would have to be «Bewitching Amber» by Pulp Fragrance, a perfume that lives up to its name.
in the bottle and on application, the labdanum comes through strongly, with complex woody influences and a good dose of sombre cardamom, yet they're balanced perfectly by soft musk and a tinge of vanilla to create an intense yet alluring scent.
i couldn't help but fall deeply in love with «Bewitching Amber» from the first sniff; wearing this gives me vibes of Raven, my favourite character from DC Comics' Teen Titans series.
despite her outward display of apathy, Raven's powers as an empath give her immense sensitivity to others' feelings. she may have moments of grim moodiness and self-doubt, but manifests amazing selflessness when she absorbs others' pain into herself.
Raven has, to me, always exemplified that it doesn't matter where you come from or what your heritage is; these can never stop you from being the best that you can be, and you're so much stronger for not letting them hold you back.
so it means a lot to me that wearing «Bewitching Amber» evokes the same mature empathic confidence, a recall of these truths and a reminder to press on even when things seem bleakest.
📝 official notes: "a darker take on classic amber with labdanum, non-gourmand vanilla, woody vetiver, pine bark, cardamom & sandalwood musk."
