Possets - All Sinners' Day

today being all saints' day (1 november), it seemed oddly fitting that my scent of the day would be Possets Perfume's All Sinners' Day (The flip side of All Saints’ Day, going straight to Hell with this one! The sweet smell of deep fried souls combines with one of the most sophisticated dry and austere vanillas. Quite a combination, like standing on a precipice.)

the awesome thing about indie perfumeries is how they can really just take scent to a whole different level with their creativity of unique notes and combinations, and the sweet deep-fried aroma that is a hallmark of All Sinners' Day is such a great example of this. it's something that is so familiar from those junk-food craving days and yet something that is so special because i've never experienced anything like it outside of perfume form. 

in the bottle, All Sinners' Day lives up to its description with a delicious fried gourmand scent that reminds me of sugar-sprinkled churros straight from the fryer, mouth-wateringly crisp and inviting. it's so real that i can almost feel the crunch of biting into them and taste the heat from the churros meeting the coolness of the vanilla ice cream accompanying it.

on application, All Sinners' Day enthralls by being both a realistic gourmand yet amazingly wearable. from the get-go, the deep-fried sweetness irresistibly captures the attention for the sophistication of the vanilla to seal the deal with the drydown. after about ten minutes on my skin, each sniff brings with it the most refined of vanillas, unadorned by any frivolous trappings save for a light hint of sugar and the ghost of a deep-fried churro in the background. it's so deliciously addictive while at the same time being surprisingly classy, a throwback to the nostalgia of teenage junk-food enjoyment that's elevated to the next level.

this scent has a moderate throw of more than a foot on application, though it becomes a little more reserved with the drydown. notwithstanding its gourmand origins, this gorgeous vanilla perfume is something that is perfect to wear for an evening out on the town or on casual friday in the office.

it's a pity that All Sinners' Day has been discontinued, but it's just one of many stunning examples of the standard of scent craft that i've come to expect from Possets Perfume. i'll definitely be enjoying this to the last drop. 8.5/10.
