October 2021 – top six fragrances

{undercover review of own purchases}

happy falloween! it's been an amazing halloween month to discover scents for the season, and here are my top six favourites for October!

🍂 autumn was definitely in the air with Alkemia Perfumes' «Autumn Alchemy 2018» (a blend of maple candyfloss, spiced amber, sugar pumpkin, ripe fig, and brown sugar). check out the full review here.

plus, it wouldn't be halloween season without candy, and sweetness featured prominently in most of these. surprisingly, there were not one but two marshmallow masterpieces:

🤍 Stereoplasm's «Scaredy Cats» (sheet white marshmallow, midnight sugar cookies and an extinguished candle) masterfully captured and distilled the fun of teenagers out camping on their own, roasting marshmallows over an open fire without a care in the world. check out the full review here.

🤍 Fantôme's «Ectoplasm» (spooky, goopy marshmallow over bone-chilling white musk, sweet amber, a gossamer sugar glaze, dark myrrh, and creeping greenery) is both a delightfully delicious dessert and an elegantly refined aura, a beautiful perfume that brings a touch of ghostly comfort and subtle mysticism to my everyday reality. check out the full review here.

i also discovered that herbal honey is a delightful comfort scent for me, especially on rainy days:

🍯 Sucreabeille's «I Put A Spell On You» (red musk and elderberry, cloves, myrrh, and clary sage, gunpowder soaked in honey) is easily one of the top ten fragrances in my collection, a firm favourite and a comfort pick for almost any occasion. check out the full review here.

🍯 The Strange South's «Black Cat Oil» (a tincture of bay leaves, sage, three catnip leaves, opoponax, Himalayan sea salt, and iron nails, with honey (vegan), patchouli, tuberose, orchid, clover, cinnamon, and skin musk in a base of meadowfoam seed oil) is a stunningly-addictive perfume that's hands-down one of my go-to comfort scents when i want something that’s sweet yet sophisticated. check out the full review here.

and of course, it wouldn't be October without a sinister spooky scent to complement the sweetness.

🖤 it was a close fight but my most-loved dark scent had to be Pulp Fragrance's «Bewitching Amber» (a darker take on classic amber with labdanum, non-gourmand vanilla, woody vetiver, pine bark, cardamom & sandalwood musk). check out the full review here.
