Damask Haus – Reaper Ride

{product received for free for the purposes of review}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky. and this next trio of posts features one of the season's ubiquitous decorations 💀

today's scent of the day is «Reaper Ride» by Damask Haus, a sweet atmospheric that feels like an autumn hayride adventure with a twist.

the first sniffs from the bottle scream autumn, with a combination of realistic hay, dry acorns and worn wood, and a gentle dusting of sugar over it all.

i usually prefer more realism in my scents so this does come across a little too sweet for my liking, though it's really quite lovely how the sweetness brings out a warm dirt note beneath.

just like riding in a real haycart, there's the initial excitement and strong smell of wood and hay as you first tumble in.

but as the cart continues down the trail at a slower pace, your heart catches in your throat and you can't stop blushing as you find yourself leaning back against an attractive stranger who smells of sugar and cosy cashmere.

you desperately bury your face in the sweater as gentle arms encircle you, cool fingers on your skin. even as the cart slows down, you wish fervently with all your heart that this night would never end.

it feels so good; you push away the nagging thought that though it's a small town, you've never seen this person before... and surely that can't be the smell of grave dirt under that soft sweater?
