Sucreabeille – Dead Ringer & Rictus

{undercover review of own purchases}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky.

these past couple of days, i've been testing two really creepy scents from Sucreabeille, «Dead Ringer» and «Rictus».
of the two, «Rictus» takes the more middle-of-the-road approach, with a scent that evokes the smell of flowers at a funeral. powdery violets, dark roses, mourning myrrh and candle wax all come together to vividly conjure up the image of a solemn end-of-life service.

in contrast, «Dead Ringer» is a surprising two-in-one scent that goes from delectable gourmand to funereal floral.

this opens with a realistic and mouth-watering boozy dark chocolate and raspberry, which gradually fades within the first ten minutes of wear and is replaced by a sombre bouquet of lilies and dark orchids.

the raspberry is one of the last gourmand notes to disappear, bridging both halves of the perfume by lending both sweetness and tartness to the floral element. it's hard to envision how something so sweet could become so solemn over time!

i like them both equally: «Dead Ringer» for when i need to wear something more universally-appealing, and «Rictus» for when i want to push the limits of mighty morphin' perfume arrangements.
📝«Dead Ringer» official notes: "powdery violets, myrrh smoke drifting through a crumbling cathedral, red musk, candle wax, black roses."

📝«Rictus» official notes: "a funereal wreath of white lilies and black orchids sprinkled with a dusting of graveyard dirt. a somber wake feast of dark chocolate drenched raspberries and a shot of dark rum."
