Luminous Star Perfumes - War

taking a trip down memory lane, i decided to pull up an old favourite from Luminous Star Perfumes which has since closed. War (creamy sandalwood, beeswax, orris, smokey tobacco, cherrywood, and soft musk) is a scent fit for a regal elf warrior princess, and probably what i imagine Legolas from The Lord of the Rings would smell like.

in the bottle, i get a beautiful symphony where each note comes together in just the right balance. the sandalwood is prominent from the start, and i have no idea how Luminous Star Perfumes managed to make the sandalwood 'creamy'... but this is phenomenal. i've never smelt sandalwood like this before. it blends seamlessly with the musk and orris (iris) to give a sweet woody scent with tinges of smoke at the edges. the beeswax is nothing like regular candles, oh no. this is a luscious, warm, melting beeswax that doesn't need to do anything to announce its presence. like royalty, it's just standing there in the middle of it all and you can't help but be enthralled by it as it really goes above and beyond to enhance the sandalwood and bring so much value to the scent.

the scent is very stable both on my skin and in my hair, smelling almost identical to what's in the bottle from start to end. it lasts for at least 7-8 hours on my wrists and in excess of 12 hours in my hair. a little goes a very long way, with a good throw detectable from arm's length on application and slowly becoming more personal over time.

i feel so happy wearing this. the scent just imbues me with joy and confidence and peace and strength, to the extent that i feel almost like a different person - the ideal persona i've always imagined i could be - whenever i wear it.

10/10 holy grail status achieved - i love wearing this so much that it is the first ever scent that i've completely finished a sample vial of. luckily, even though Luminous Star Perfumes has closed in may 2019, i was able to purchase 4 oz of backup to enjoy for a good long while.
