Libertine Bath Haus - La Vie est Magnifique (hair glace)

hair... is such a tricky thing to work with.

whether it's taming those frizzes or fighting against unruly winds or attempting to do an amateur photoshoot (cough cough), these strands sometimes seem to have a mind of their own and are capable of resisting every effort to get them to behave.

enter one of my favourite (albeit sadly, discontinued) products - hair glace from Libertine Bath Haus.

this stuff is great for my long and super-fine hair - i usually apply a couple of spritzes to wet hair and then go through it with a comb before brushing, and then letting my hair air dry naturally after that. the glace is so light you can't feel it's there, and doesn't leave my hair (or palms / comb) oily after application.

before i started using the glace, my hair tended to frizz up much more easily and would become more oily between washes, but after incorporating this as part of my hair-washing routine, it was as if my hair had just graduated from obedience training school - fewer unruly tangles when combing out, less greasy over the next day or so, and smelling oh so wonderful in the process.

i did apply a small amount to dry hair for this shot and i generally find that the scent lingers better on wet hair compared to dry. with dry hair, longevity was about four hours after this shot was taken, whereas with wet hair, two spritzes a couple of hours before bedtime are enough to be still discernible by lunchtime the next day. overall, the glace also has a nice throw - it's always a joy to catch a shy waft of scent over my shoulder whenever the wind playfully teases some of my hair as i walk.

scent-wise, i have this in La Vie est Magnifique (white peach nectar, steeped with Bulgarian lavender, vanilla musk, creamy magnolias, and a pop of champagne accented with a touch of raspberries) which smells as good as it sounds.

the fragrance is pretty stable and doesn't change too much between the bottle and in my hair; the main star here is a sweet ripe juicy peach with a soft mellow lavender vanilla and that slightest hint of tart raspberries to give it a bit of an edge. it's a well-blended scent with fun spring/summer vibes, and is good enough to wear on its own as the smell of the day without needing any perfume.

all-around, a great product with a lovely scent - magnifique. 8/10.

this review is of a product that i had purchased at regular price with my own money. i wasn’t asked to review this as a condition of receipt and didn’t receive any incentives for writing this. i’m not affiliated with Libertine Bath Haus and as always, all opinions remain my own.

unfortunately, Libertine Bath Haus has closed its shop doors earlier in the middle of may 2020, so La Vie est Magnifique isn't available for purchase any more. i was really sad to see them go, especially since their products are so good, and will definitely be enjoying what's left of this bottle while it lasts.
