Galatea Cosmetics - Fantasy Destinations collection (wax melts)

a few months back, i had purchased a set of wax tarts from Galatea Cosmetics in their Fantasy Destinations collection. i was drawn to these because i really liked how they were inspired by various literary and other fandoms, and how most of these unique note combinations sounded like they would be spot-on olfactory experiences of these mythical and legendary places.

take for example the woodiness of Forbidden Forest (The deep dark primeval wood, full of beauty and terror and magic: Birch bark, fir needle, cypress, tonka, eucalyptus) or the aquatic elements of Mermaid Grotto (Feel free to spy on the mermaids as they frolic, splash and comb their hair, but don't get too close! Sea salt, mimosa, lily, sandalwood, vanilla, lemon, muskwhich sound so realistic that they can entirely transport one to experience these remote locations without the need for a teleportation ring.

Goblin Market (The grand fae market hall, teeming with forbidden fruit & mysterious peddlars: Exotic ambers, sandalwood, dark musk, decadent candy sweets) feels like it would capture the bustle and exotic smells perfectly, while The Inn Between the Worlds (Your party of travelers is weary and must rest. Step into the parlor for some mead and news from other far-flung travelers... Balsam fir, coriander, tobacco, orange peel, nutmeg, tonka) probably would smell like a safe and calming place to heal up and regroup.

plus deeper mystery awaits with The Labyrinth (Winding ever deeper toward the heart of a maze, toward a mysterious foe at the very center... Date fruit, dragon's blood resin, olive wood, clay) and the promise of undiscovered unknowns in Here There Be Dragons (What is there when we fall off the edge of the map? What adventure awaits? Cucumber, cantaloupe, sea air, lemon, lily, green leaves, white tea).

truly, as described on the website, this set is a fantasy travelogue of scent. it's very well put together with all the different niches that each scent fills. taken as a whole this sounds like the perfect set of atmospherics for enhancing the immersion experience in the next tabletop role-playing game / dungeons and dragons adventure, and i just can't wait to get exploring!
