Deconstructing Eden – Haunted

{undercover review of own purchase}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky.

«Haunted» by Deconstructing Eden is one of three scents in their «Love: Dark» series. it's described as the memory of love, the "sweet obsession and that love that you just can't shake".

this is a hauntingly beautiful lily scent, a gentle and light perfume that's spectrally soft and sweet.

the first sniffs are quite bold, with the rose note coming across strongly and the ambergris making a prominent appearance.

but its character changes within the first few minutes of application. the rose fades to a mere whisper and the true star of the scent emerges, a stunning floral blend that showcases the lily magnificently.

the earthiness of the ambergris disappears surprisingly quickly, but its alluring sweetness continues to linger.

there's also a gentle coolness to the scent from the lilac, while the wisteria rounds it out beautifully.

it's a pity that the scent takes after its namesake, with a longevity of about four hours on my skin. not a bad performer, though it's definitely shorter than i would have expected for an eau de parfum.

all things considered, i really like «Haunted» enough to finish this sample, though i'm on the fence about whether to full-size this one.

it certainly does live up to its description - while it was an ethereal and fleeting experience on my skin, at the same time it also definitely left a lasting impression that won't be easy to forget.
📝 official notes: "ghostly roses, ethereal lilacs, and wisteria. pale, pale Asian lilies on a soft bed of delicate woods and ambergris."
