The Strange South – Black Cat Oil

{undercover review of own purchase}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky... and this weekend, i'm just 'feline' it!
black cats get somewhat of a bad rep especially around this time of year, because of their associations with halloween and witchcraft. different cultures have mixed views of these kitties, with some considering them to bring bad luck and others, good fortune.
yet superstition aside, they're probably just as playful, curious and cute as cats of any other colour, and their sable coat really brings out the bright spark in their eyes.
in honour of black cats for the month, today's scent of the day is «Black Cat Oil», one of the staple scents that i can't do without in my perfume collection.
in the bottle, this is a beautifully rich honey with a sweetness that is tempered by and brought out even more against a contrasting backdrop of green herbs and patchouli.
there are also some lovely nuances here - a subtle floral shyly blossoms over the course of the wear, with just the tiniest touch of cinnamon at the edge to spice things up.
everything here is well-blended to form a cohesive whole, and the end product is so much more than the sum of its parts, a stunningly-addictive perfume that's hands-down one of my go-to comfort scents when i want something that’s sweet yet sophisticated.

📝 official notes: "a tincture of bay leaves, sage, three catnip leaves, opoponax, Himalayan sea salt, and iron nails, with honey (vegan), patchouli, tuberose, orchid, clover, cinnamon, and skin musk in a base of meadowfoam seed oil."
