Vintner's Reserve – Basic Witch

{undercover review of own purchase}

with falloween (a portmanteau of fall and halloween) right around the corner, i've decided to dedicate the entire halloween month to everything sinister and spooky. the next few days are going to be wonderfully witchy, with a lineup of my favourite sorcerous scents!
and what better way to start off than by going back to the basics, with «Basic Witch» by Vintner's Reserve.
now there's a lot going on with this gourmand, but it's not a cauldron of hodgepodge - this showcases multiple autumn treats coming together harmoniously in a seasonal smorgasbord.
«Basic Witch» opens on a deliciously decadent note, with golden-brown marshmallows fresh from the fire, ripe red apples and sweet sticky caramel all over. it smells so good that i could huff it straight from the bottle!
on my skin, the marshmallow lingers for less than ten minutes before we move on to the next item on the menu: pumpkin spice, butter cookies and rich buttercream.
the contrast from the initial sticky-sweetness really brings out the richness of the butter note, and the caramel apple blends beautifully with the pumpkin spice.
last but not least, a subtle hint of tobacco smoke completes the picture of autumnal ambience.
«Basic Witch» is brilliant in both concept and execution, creating a wearable fall delight by combining two excellent gourmands that are synonymous with the season.
📝 official notes: "bonfire roasted marshmallows, sticky caramel apples, hot apple cider, fresh-baked butter cookies with pumpkin spice buttercream, and a thread of freshly picked tobacco."
